About The Smiler

★ World record for most inversions on a single coaster (14)

The Smiler is a steel roller coaster at Alton Towers in Staffordshire, England, UK, open since 2013. The ride stands 98 feet tall, drops 60 feet and reaches 53 mph over 3,838 feet of track, with 14 inversions.

Fourteen inversions packed into under 4,000 feet of track — still the world record for a single coaster. Riders barely finish one twist before the next begins.

Field note: its queue line is themed as a pseudo-medical facility studying 'the Marmalisation process.'
