About Galactica

Galactica is a steel roller coaster at Alton Towers in Staffordshire, England, UK, open since 2016. The ride stands 60 feet tall, drops 90 feet and reaches 50 mph over 2,018 feet of track.

Riders lie face-down and wear virtual-reality headsets for a space-themed flight, a retrofit of the park's earlier flying coaster, Air, that replaced the ride's real-world visuals with a fully digital flight through space.

Field note: originally opened in 2002 as Air, one of the first flying coasters in the world.
