★ Once billed as the tallest & steepest wooden coaster in the world (1990)
Texas Giant was a wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, USA. It opened in 1990 and closed in 2010. The ride stood 143 feet tall, dropped 137 feet and reached 62 mph over 4,920 feet of track.
Once billed as the tallest and steepest wooden coaster in the world, its rough ride became notorious among riders in its final years before a steel-track rebuild.
Field note: reopened in 2011 as New Texas Giant with a steel track over the original wooden structure.
