Balder is a wooden roller coaster at Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden, open since 2003. The ride stands 118 feet tall, drops 113 feet and reaches 56 mph over 2,664 feet of track.
Named for the Norse god of light, Balder was among the first wooden coasters in Europe built for speed and airtime rather than sheer size.
Field note: its layout was designed by the same firm behind several record-setting American wood coasters.
